Breakfast can make or break your day

Let's face it, in this busy, hustle-bustle world it is hard to find time to eat a nourishing breakfast. But, numerous studies have shown that eating a healthy breakfast can lower your risk of heart disease and diabetes, help control weight gain, increase focus and memory, and helps your mood.

Breakfast pancakes
Pass the syrup, please!
Gorging in sausage and bacon is NOT what we are talking about here. Even though bacon is ooooh so goooood! It needs to be a balanced meal - full of whole grains, protein, and fruit. Opt for healthier meat options like turkey bacon, turkey sausage, or even salmon (for the fancy folk). Make your own oatmeal instead of those pre-packaged pouches. And stay away from cereals with cartoon characters on the box. Those are so loaded with sugar you will need a broom to get you off the ceiling.

bagel
This looks like the perfect breakfast to me. You haven't lived until you've had a bagel with cream cheese and fresh salmon.

If you have the time in the morning to make yourself a healthy breakfast, good for you! But if you don't, there is still hope. Make your breakfast the night before, or in bulk. Below are some great breakfast ideas for those on the go.

Breakfast burrito
These bad-boys are super easy and delicious. I like to add salsa to the meat or eggs to make it spicy.

Fruit, Cheese, and Nuts

Fruit & Cheese
Get your fresh fruit, calcium, and protein in a great, quick breakfast.

Oatmeal with Fresh Fruit

Oatmeal
I let this cook while I get ready in the morning. Throw in some chia seeds for Omega-3's, fiber, and protein. Add some agave nectar or a touch of brown sugar for added sweetness.

Smoothies - Click here for recipes

Breakfast Smoothie
Smoothies are so versatile and a great way to get nutrients without a lot of thought. (PS- Don't go for those smoothies at chain fast-food places or even at a certain royal smoothie place. Those places load their smoothies up with things that are not meant for your body. If you can't make your own smoothies, opt for a place where you can see the fruit and know it is fresh, not processed. Juice bars have wonderful smoothies and offer fresh fruit with no added "junk")

There are so many breakfast recipes out there, it is difficult to put all of them in one blog. Do some research, find a great recipe, and share it with us.
Now that you know, be sure to eat breakfast everyday to be healthier and more focused!
