Science Proves That Dancing With Others Is Good For Your Health

A recent study published in The Biology Letters has shown that dancing in synchronicity can benefit your health. This is something that members of Miss Fit Academy have known for years. You think we make this stuff up? Humans are naturally susceptible to music.  Even babies tap their toes and wiggle to a good beat. When we dance together, we fuse as one into a collective whole with an energy greater than the sum of our parts. “When we watch someone else do the same thing at the same time as us, our brain ends up with a merged sense of us and them. It feels like we ‘become one,” the study concludes.

Psychology supports this further. Mirroring is something humans subconsciously do in social situations, often with close friends or family. It establishes a below-the-radar rapport with another person, enabling a closer connection.

All this together has shown to increase pain tolerance and promote social bonding through increased hormones, although the authors do acknowledge that their study only touched on gender variants and focused on one cultural group.

Low-exertion effort also showed a heightened pain tolerance, but the special cocktail of high exertion and synchronized movement proved to show the best results.
